Service Terms
Last updated: May 2026
How these terms fit together. These Service Terms supplement our general Terms and Conditions and apply specifically to Self Migrate's immigration information services. Both documents apply to your use of the platform. Where the two cover the same topic, these Service Terms prevail because they reflect the specific nature of what Self Migrate does. For account registration, intellectual property, dispute resolution, severability, governing law, and the general framework of using the platform — see the Terms and Conditions above.
Service Description
Self Migrate provides immigration information tools for skilled migration pathways to Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, including a visa points calculator, document checklist generator, visa comparison, country comparison, processing time tracker, and AI-powered information assistant.
Not Immigration Advice
Self Migrate does not provide immigration advice. Personalised immigration advice is regulated in every destination jurisdiction this platform covers:
- Australia — Under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), only MARA-registered agents may provide immigration assistance.
- Canada — Only CICC-licensed consultants or Canadian lawyers may provide immigration advice or representation.
- New Zealand — Under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007, only IAA-licensed advisers or NZ lawyers may provide immigration advice.
All information on this platform is general in nature and should not be relied upon as personal advice for your individual circumstances. We strongly recommend consulting a registered agent in your destination country before making any immigration decisions.
AI-Generated Content
Our AI features use automated language models. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated responses may contain errors or outdated information. Always verify with the relevant official source:
- Australia: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au (Department of Home Affairs)
- Canada: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship (IRCC)
- New Zealand: immigration.govt.nz (Immigration New Zealand)
AI Content Indemnity
You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions taken on the basis of AI-generated content provided by Self Migrate. We are not liable for any visa refusal, application delay, financial loss, or other consequence arising from reliance on AI-generated content. Where you intend to act on a consequential question, you must verify with the relevant official source above and consult a registered agent in your destination country.
Fair Use of AI Features
AI features (the AI Assistant chat, AI-generated pathway information, AI-assisted document evaluation, and the DHA-criteria compliance check) are subject to two complementary limits, sized so worst-case usage stays comfortably under approximately 25% of the corresponding subscription price. Both apply on a 24-hour rolling window — capacity frees up gradually as your earlier requests roll out of the window, rather than resetting all at once at midnight.
Chat request cap
The AI Immigration Chat is metered as a per-tier request count, since each chat exchange is a discrete user action. Premium is marketed as “unlimited”; this means unlimited within the fair-use envelope below — the caps are high enough that genuine use never trips them, but they stop a runaway script or compromised account from racking up unbounded inference cost.
- Free trial — 3 questions total.
- Essential — 5 chat requests per rolling 24 hours.
- Premium — 50 chat requests per rolling 24 hours OR 500 per rolling 30 days, whichever comes first.
Token budget
All AI features share a tier-aware total-token budget. This covers chat plus any other AI usage (Pathway Information, AI-assisted document evaluation, DHA-criteria check):
- Free trial — 50,000 tokens per rolling 24 hours.
- Essential — 150,000 tokens per rolling 24 hours.
- Premium — 300,000 tokens per rolling 24 hours.
If you reach either limit you'll see a 429 response telling you which one fired and how many hours until the next slot opens up. We may revise these numbers up or down to reflect changing model costs or abuse patterns. If we lower a limit materially during your active subscription period, we'll tell you in advance.
Subscriptions and Auto-Renewal
Paid features are offered on a subscription basis. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly at the price shown on the pricing page until cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access through to that date, then your tier returns to Free without further charges. You can manage or cancel your subscription from /dashboard/settings at any time.
Payment Provider
All subscribers are billed in USD via Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the legal Merchant of Record for every transaction — they handle invoicing, sales tax / VAT / GST collection where applicable across 50+ jurisdictions, and any consumer-rights dispute in their seller capacity. We never see or store your card details; Lemon Squeezy handles payment data on a PCI-DSS-compliant hosted page.
Refunds and Cancellations
We offer a 7-day no-questions-asked refund window from the subscription start date — see our Refund Policy for the full process, including the one-time code we use to verify the request. Outside that window, the rules below apply.
Cancelling mid-cycle does not produce a pro-rata refund — you keep access until the end of the current billing period and auto-renewal is switched off. Beyond that:
- South African subscribers — under section 44 of the Consumer Protection Act, you have a 5-business-day cooling-off period if you signed up via direct marketing. Email hello@selfmigrate.app within that window for a full refund.
- EU / UK subscribers — under the Consumer Rights Directive (and UK equivalent), you ordinarily have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because the service is digital content delivered immediately upon subscription, this right may be expressly waived at checkout: international checkout includes a checkbox you must tick reading “I consent to immediate access to digital content and acknowledge I lose my 14-day right of withdrawal.” If you do not tick the waiver, you retain the 14-day right of withdrawal and access begins after that period.
- All subscribers — if you were charged in error or have a billing dispute, email hello@selfmigrate.app and we will respond within 7 business days.
Limitation of Liability — Immigration Outcomes
Self Migrate is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for any decisions made based on information provided by the platform, including AI-generated content. Immigration outcomes depend on individual circumstances and are determined by the relevant destination-country authority:
- Australia — the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)
- Canada — Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- New Zealand — Immigration New Zealand (INZ)
Force Majeure — Service Dependencies
We are not liable for any failure to perform our obligations under these terms where that failure results from events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to third-party service outages (Supabase, Vercel, xAI, Lemon Squeezy, Resend, Sentry), internet infrastructure failures, regulatory action, civil unrest, or natural events. Where such an event materially affects the service for an extended period, you may cancel for the unused portion of the billing cycle.
Relationship to the General Terms and Conditions
Everything not covered above — account registration and security obligations, content ownership, acceptable use, intellectual property, severability, governing law (South Africa / Western Cape), dispute resolution, and the general contractual framework — is governed by our Terms and Conditions. By using Self Migrate you agree to both documents read together.
