QLD Skilled Nomination — Migration Queensland
Step-by-step walkthrough of registering your interest with Migration Queensland for nomination on the AU 190 / 491 visas. QLD has five distinct pathways depending on your circumstances.
Procedural walkthrough only. Drafted from publicly available DHA documentation as of 9 May 2026. The portal UI may have changed since then — verify each step against the live portal.
For advice on whether to lodge, what to claim, or how to optimise your application, consult a MARA-registered migration agent. Self Migrate provides information, not advice.
Before you start
- A submitted SkillSelect EOI (190 and / or 491). Queensland no longer requires QLD as your only state preference, but EOIs older than 715 days are not considered.
- An occupation that aligns with one of QLD's five pathways (Skilled workers in QLD / Building & construction / QLD university graduate / Offshore skilled / Regional small business owner).
- A positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing body matching your nominated occupation.
- Valid English test results at Competent English or above (IELTS 6 / equivalent). QLD uses Home Affairs' minimums for each visa subclass.
- Documentation matching the Migration Queensland checklist for your chosen pathway (employment contracts, references, qualification transcripts, postcodes).
