Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issues Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence through Express Entry invitation rounds. Each round has a CRS cut-off score and may target specific categories or the general pool.

An invitation round is when IRCC selects candidates from the Express Entry pool and issues Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence. IRCC conducts rounds regularly and publishes results on its website, including the date, number of invitations issued, and the minimum CRS score required.
IRCC conducts two types of invitation rounds: general rounds (which invite candidates from all Express Entry programs) and category-based rounds (which target specific occupations, language ability, or other criteria).
The CRS cut-off score is the lowest score among candidates who received an ITA in a particular round. It is not a fixed pass mark; it changes with every round depending on the number of invitations IRCC issues and the score distribution in the pool at that time.
IRCC publishes invitation round results on its official Express Entry rounds of invitations page. Each round entry includes the date, the type of round (general or category-based), the number of invitations issued, the minimum CRS score, and the tie-breaking date and time.
The Express Entry pool is the collection of all submitted and active Express Entry profiles. When you submit a profile and meet the eligibility requirements for at least one Express Entry program (FSW, CEC, or FST), your profile enters the pool and remains there for 12 months (unless you receive an ITA, withdraw your profile, or become ineligible).
If you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence through your IRCC online account. The ITA confirms that your profile met the cut-off in a specific round; it is not an approval of your permanent residence application.
To determine if your CRS score is likely to result in an ITA, compare your score to recent cut-offs published by IRCC. Cut-offs fluctuate, so review several months of rounds to understand typical ranges for general and category-based draws.
